The Scottish Youth Parliament believes that Councils and schools across Scotland should endeavour to ensure that children and young people’s placing requests for primary or secondary school are successfully granted if any of their siblings also attend that school, with refusals being a measure of last resort. The Scottish Youth Parliament further calls on Councils to carry out reviews of their ‘catchment areas’ to ensure that as few young people as possible are refused admission to a closer school, given the cost and travel implications.
